1.18 Policy
Attendance
It is the policy of the Randolph County Detention Center that all employees are required to work assigned shifts as scheduled. Employees are expected to make every reasonable effort to report for duty on time. Any employee unable to work a scheduled shift must notify their direct supervisor and the detention center as soon as reasonably possible.
Procedure
Shift Reporting:
Employees shall report 15 minutes prior to the start of any scheduled shift. Employees are not authorized to clock into Time Clock Plus until they are within 15 minutes of their schedule shift.
Leave Requests:
Employees must submit requested leave at least 7 days prior to the date requested.
Approval of leave is contingent upon staffing requirements and manpower availability.
Absences and Tardiness:
Employees must notify their direct supervisor and the detention center if they are sick or will report late for a scheduled shift.
Notifications should be made as early as possible prior to the scheduled shift to allow for coverage.
Any notifications made less than one hour before shift start may result in disciplinary action.
Medical Documentation:
If absent due to illness or medical reasons for three (3) consecutive workdays, employees must provide documentation from a medical professional clearing them to return to work.
Holiday Pay / Compensatory Time:
Full-time employees are eligible for holiday pay/compensatory time for all county-approved holidays.
Employees scheduled to work on a holiday who are absent, or absent on a scheduled workday immediately before or after a holiday, will not receive holiday pay.
Exceptions:
The above procedures may not apply in the following cases, provided proper documentation or approval is obtained:
Bereavement leave (up to 3 days)
Military duty
Jury duty or subpoena
Approved leave
Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) (Available after one year)
On-the-job injury
Serious illness or surgical procedures (approved case by case)
Employee, family, or medical emergencies (approved case by case)
Administrator approval
Administrative Discretion:
All procedures in this attendance policy may be modified at the discretion of the Administrator to meet operational needs.
