POLICY:
It is the policy of the Randolph County Detention Center to encourage communications between detainee’s family or friends and the detention center staff. The detention center staff will investigate each and every complaint or concern received by an detainee’s family member or friend according to the procedures outlined in this directive.
PROCEDURE:
All complaints or concerns received by family or friends of an detainee shall be documented as an incident report and will include, but not limited to the following: The person who called, the date and time, the nature of complaint or concern, action taken and the telephone number of the person filing the complaint. These reports shall be forwarded to the Administrator.
All complaints shall be taken seriously and acted upon.
Complaints received that pertain to violence or bodily harm, either by another detainee or self-inflicted, will require the detainee in question to be relocated and assigned a new housing location.
Detainees that request to be reassigned due to an alleged assault will be relocated and assigned a new housing location.
All detainees that are relocated for one of the reasons stated in this directive will be given the opportunity to talk with a detention center staff member in a location that is private.
The Administrator shall report daily or as needed, in writing, any complaints contained in this directive to the Sheriff and Chief Deputy.
