Section 12 - Health Services
12.1 – Medical Requests
All non-emergency medical or dental needs must be submitted through the kiosk as a medical request.
Routine issues are handled during sick call by the medical nurse.
Emergencies are addressed immediately without a written request.
12.2 – Sick Call / Medical Provider
Medical services are provided by Southern Health Partners via contract services.
Sick call is typically held Monday through Friday (excluding holidays).
Detainees must submit a request form to be placed on sick call.
12.3 – Outside Medical Care
Detainees may arrange for an outside physician or specialist at their own expense.
Visits must occur at the facility.
12.4 – Medication Rules
All prescribed medication is managed by medical staff and distributed at scheduled times.
Medications cannot be stored in cells unless approved.
Sharing or hoarding medication is prohibited and may result in discipline or prosecution.
12.5 – Medical Cost Recovery
The facility may seek reimbursement through the courts for medical expenses incurred during incarceration.
12.6 – Financial Responsibility
Detainees are responsible for medical costs incurred while in custody.
Unpaid balances may be collected upon release.
12.7 – Access to Care
Medical care will not be denied due to inability to pay.
12.8 – Co-Pays
Co-pays are charged in addition to medical costs and deducted from commissary accounts.
Lack of funds will not prevent access to medical services.
