Section 28 - Trustee Eligibility Requirements
28.1 – Trustee Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for assignment as a trustee, a detainee must meet all of the following criteria:
a. Demonstrate willingness to work, follow directions, and maintain appropriate conduct and cooperation with others of varying backgrounds.
b. Be medically cleared and approved for the type of work assigned.
c. Receive approval from the Chief Jail Administrator or designee.
d. Maintain good standing status within the general population.
28.2 – Work Release / Work Detail Electronic Monitoring
The Sheriff or designee reserves the right to require detainees assigned to work release or work detail programs to be placed on electronic monitoring. This requirement shall be determined on a case-by-case basis.
At the discretion of the Sheriff or designee, detainees may be required to bear the cost of such monitoring.
Participation in electronic monitoring is a condition of continued eligibility for work release or work detail. Refusal to wear an approved monitoring device, or violation of any monitoring conditions, may result in:
Denial of placement in the program, or
Removal from the program.
Note: Trustee assignments are made strictly based on available openings. All eligible detainees will be considered; however, final selection remains solely at the discretion of the Chief Jail Administrator or Assistant Jail Administrator.
