Section 23 - Court Proceedings & Legal Access
23.1 – District Court Proceedings
The District Judge of Randolph County conducts scheduled court proceedings for the purpose of setting bonds, appointing counsel, and advising detainees of applicable rights under criminal procedure. Detainees are not required to be present for bond determinations conducted by the District Judge.
23.2 – Appointment of Counsel
Detainees who are financially unable to retain private counsel may request appointment of an attorney by completing an Affidavit of Substantial Hardship. Completed affidavits shall be forwarded to the District Judge for review and determination. Affidavit forms are available upon request from facility staff.
23.3 – Court-Related Inquiries
Questions regarding court dates, sentencing, or other court-related matters shall be submitted using a detainee inquiry form available on the kiosk system.
Detainees who are unable to read or write will be provided assistance by facility staff upon request.
